Biography

John Andersson is a son of Anders Andersson the Finn and Christina Gulbrand.

Date of birth is an estimate; he was married by 1676, when we can estimate he would have been at least 21, i.e. born before 1646. His father emigrated in 1643 to New Sweden, so John was born in the colony.

"John Andersson, the younger son, married by 1676 Catharina, the daughter of Hendrick Jacobsson and Gertrude his wife..."[1] He acquired the surname Cock (the "little") to distinguish him from John Andersson Sträng.[1]

"John Andersson Cock and Catharine Hendricksdotter had at least the following children:"[1]

  1. Andrew (Andrishi) Cock
  2. William Cock
  3. Joseph Cock
  4. Catharina Cock

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
