Biography

He was born on 11 Jan 1670 in Henrico County, Virginia and his parents were Agnes (Powell) and Thomas S. Cocke, Sr.

William Cocke married on 02 Dec 1695 at St.John's Church, Henrico County, Virginia to Sarah Perrin. [1] [2] [3] It may have been his second marriage.

On 26 April 1698 he patented 256 acres on a branch of Cornelius Run. [4]

In 1704 he paid quit rents on 1535 acres in Henrico County, Virginia. [5]

On 01 March 1708/9 he sold 124 acres to Theodorick Carter and 130 acres to John Webb. His wife, Sarah, relinquished her rights to the land. [6]

He was a physician and coroner of Henrico County, Virginia. [7]

Records of 22 October 1712 show he was also a member of the General Assembly and Secretary of the Colony. [8] [9]

Records of 03 Aug 1715 show "Wm. Cocke, Esqr." was still a member of the General Assembly. [10]

On 11 May 1717 he made his last Will which was signed on board the ship "Harrison" bound for Virginia [11] [12] and mentioned ...
