Biography
John Code, (registered as Codd on his land patents) was born in Ireland and emigrated to Upper Canada in 1816 with his parents. A land patent application for Drummond Township, Concession 6, Lot 21, was submitted in his name in 1820.[1]
He was living in Drummond Township in the 1861 census, but his wife was a widower by the 1871 census. A website on the graveyards of Lanark Co. states that John died in 1867 and was buried in the private family graveyard in Drummond.
His mother may have been Elizabeth Codd, who was living with his family in the 1871 census at the age of 84 years old.
