Biography

Robert was born in 1928. He was the son of Stanford Coffee and Vivian Jones. Robert graduated from Taft High School, and served in the US Marines during World War II.

Robert married Joan Linville March 27, 1948, in Reno, Nevada. For a time they lived with Joan's parents Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Linville, and Robert worked for an oil company.[1]

First Lieutenant Coffee was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor with the 80th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group. On May 8, 1952, while on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, burst into flames and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is engraved on the National Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.[2]
