Obituary

LYNN,IN---Ruth Pauline (Coffin) Swaim, passed into heaven peacefully, at the age of 101, on Friday, Apr. 5,2013.

She was born in Randolph County on Dec. 17,1911, the daughter of Grace R. (Stanley) and Guy E. Coffin.

She married Albert E. Swaim in New Castle on June 20,1936 and he preceded her in death on 2004. She was a farmer's wife, Sunday School teacher and retired employee of Richmond State Hospital. An avid reader, she would often read several books a week. She was also an accomplished painter, with many of her pictures being displayed in her children and grandchildren's homes. She has had some of her poetry published and loved playing hymns on the piano and organ.

Survivors include her children: Fred (Emily) Swaim of Losantville, Barbara Cook of Modoc and Joyce (Morgan) Cash of Cambridge City; grandchildren, Julie(Jeff) Ward, Timothy (Tonya) Swaim, Jennifer (Paul) Sheehan, Dennis (Jill) Cook, David (Rhonda) Cook, Dan (Shauna) Cook, Darryl (Marylou) Cook and Darrin Cash; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce A. Swaim; a great-grandson, Garrett Scott Swaim; a sister, Helen (Coffin) Hunt and 2 brothers, Lonnie Coffin and Donald Coffin.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 9, in Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown, Rev. Dale Bales will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Losantville.
