Children:
Mary died aged 51 years on 27 September 1829 in Sandhurst, Kent, England, and was buried on the 29th September 1829 at St. Nicholas, Sandhurst, Kent, England[6][7][8].
There is discussion concerning the parentage of Mary Copper/ Coppar/ Cooper/ Coggar but until there is something definite I have removed her parents.
1)Graeme Moad has Mary christened on "12 Oct 1775, St Nicholas, Sandhurst, Kent, age: <1, "and the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Elizabeth Ann Grigsby) Cogger.
On the Ancestry Message Boards a question was asked of Steve Riley, do you have any concrete evidence that Mary COPPER was the daughter of Joseph COPPER/COGGER and Elizabeth GRIGSBY.? by Kevin Comber of Perth, Australia. Steve's reply was, My records show Mary was actually Mary Cogger and was the daughter that I have previously originally reported. My grandmother is also descended from this couple, was a keen vidler researcher (for her line and nearby records) and a collector of records, photographs (post 1857). My mother although also born in Australia happened to live on Sandhurst Road on the Tunbridge Wells (Kent) side of Sandhurst for 30+years. [She is in her late 80’s.] My mother and another early researcher in the Kent area 'enthusiastically' worked and researched various records. (see Message Board for Threads)
2) Voices from the Past have her born 12 July 1878, parents not named, but which would making her the daughter of William & Frances Copper/Coppar.
Both 1) & 2) are reliant on only a Christening Record, so either may be, or either may not be, the correct. More research is required as there isn't actually a huge weight of strong evidence for either case.
3) There is also a third suggestion, which I have not pursued, for a Joseph Cogger and wife Ann Marr being Mary's parents.
The Mary Coppar baptised 1778 at Northiam had a sister Elizabeth Copper baptised in 1792. Did Elizabeth survive and marry? Could Mary Vidler/Vitler have been a witness at Elizabeth's marriage?
Mary appears to have had a sister Ann Copper who married Phillip Sargant on the 23rd December 1804 at St. Nicholas, Sandhurst, Kent, England. Mary's husband William Vitler was a witness at this marriage[9]. They had a son Phillip b. 1805 at Sandhurst who married Harriet. Phillip snr. and Ann Sargent (nee Copper) moved from Sandhurst, Kent to Icklesham, Sussex by 1809 and had son James bapt. 1809 at Icklesham, Sophia bapt. 1812 at Icklesham. James (son of Phillip Sargant, Carter) married Emma Pain in 1855 at Icklesham, suggesting the family remained in the Icklesham area. Ann (b. 1777) died in 1868 at Peasmarsh and was buried at Icklesham, her husband Phillip (b. 1777) having died in Udimore in 1861 and buried at Icklsham. The 1861 Census of Philip and Ann at Udimore, Sussex confirms that Ann was born about 1780 at Northiam, Sussex, England. The 1851 census also confirms Ann's birth as abt. 1781 at Northiam, Sussex. Athough no baptism can be found for Ann* Copp*r at Northiam, there was a baptism of a Nanny (a variant of Ann) Coppard, daughter of William Coppard and Frances Coppard baptised 24th June 1781 at Northiam, Sussex, England[10]. The fact that Mary's husband William was a witness at Ann's marriage in Sandhurst, Kent, and Ann was born at Northiam suggests the Northiam baptism of Mary Coppar is likely the correct one.
Other children of William and Frances Coppar(d): Fanny Coppard bapt. 1783 at Northiam, Sussex (daughter of William & Fanny) Sarah Coppard bapt. 1786 at Northiam, Sussex, Thomas Coppard bapt. 1789 at Northiam, Sussex, Elizabeth Copper bapt. 1792 at Northiam, Sussex and William Coppard bapt. 1796 at Northiam, Sussex.
William Copper had married Frances Noaks on the 14th October 1777 at Northiam, Sussex, England.

Mary's age at burial in 1829 (51 years) puts her year of birth about 1778, which makes the 1778 baptism most likely. I would suggest searching wills, settlement certificates etc of all potential parents.
