Obituary
BLANKLEY, Beatrice "Trixie"
July 17, 1915 London, England---January 12, 2013 Los Angeles.
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, lover of music. Preceded in death by dear husband of 71 years, Jack, and---a year ago, sadly too young---by son Tony. Survived by daughter Maggie (David), daughter-in-law Lynda, grandchildren Spencer, Trevor, Ana, and niece Jean in England. As a girl in London, Trixie studied violin and piano. She was observant, spunky, a top student. At London School of Economics she studied economics/transportation systems and languages. Met Jack at an alumni dance and married a few months later. In 1949 the Blankley family of four emigrated to Los Angeles. Trixie always went the extra mile to be supportive of family and community. PTA (at Council level), March of Dimes, singing in Mothers' Chorus when the children were at Cahuenga Elementary School. Taking Maggie to her dance lessons, rehearsals, performances, and sewing her costumes. Taking Tony to his violin lessons. Den Mother when Tony was a cub scout. Always setting an example of being loyal, conscientious and honest. And very capable. Eventually she enjoyed working many years on the permanent planning staff for the March of Dimes. And for many years, Trixie was a gracious hostess at Jack's weekly chamber music evenings, where he was frequently joined by his sister Irene Kennedy, the fine cellist. At age 97 Trixie had outlived all but one close friend, but lives on now, treasured, in the hearts of family and family friends. Warmest appreciation to Rose Inn for exceptional devoted care since 2005, and prior, to Flor, Ann, Luz, Linda, Anna, Elizabeth, and Jonathan.
Service at Mt. Sinai Hollywood Hills, Sunday February 24. Instead of flowers, donations to March of DImes would surely be pleasing to Trixie.[6]
