Biography

Betty (Cohen) Weinberg was born in Middlesex, England.

Betty was born in 1919.^[1] She was the daughter of Barnett Kunin and Rosie Schuwachs. Her herew name is Rivka bas Baruch רבקה בת ברוך.

In 1939, Betty was living with her father at at 114 White Hart Lane, Stepney, London and working in Ladies Gloves Sales.^[2]

Harry and Betty married on 24 November 1940 at Nelson Street Synagogue, Mile End.^[3] Due to World War II, Harry was serving in the army and took leave for the wedding. They had two sons, both are still living.

From 1960, Betty and her family moved to newly built St John's Court, Queens Drive, Finsbury Park, London. She continued living there for 62 years.^[4]

For many years, Betty celebrated her birthday 7 days earlier. Her younger son found the correct date when looking at her birth certificate whilst completing some paperwork. The mistake could be because the date her birth was registered during the following month, on that date. Like the queen, Betty celebrated 2 birthdays.

Betty passed away in 2018.^[5] She is buried next to her husband in Waltham Abbey Jewish Cemetry.^[6] At the time of her death, she had 3 living grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A result 1921 Census for Betty gives her living in Mile End Old Town along with Barnett, Rose and 3 others. The record has not been viewed due to Find My Past paywall.
