Biography

Elizabeth Colbron, (alias Colborne, Colburne) was born May 7, 1627 at South Weald, Essex, England. Brentwood, which is now a separate parish, in 1629 was a village within the parish of South Weald, Essex. Her parents were William Colbron and his wife Margery/Margaret (unknown surname.) At her baptism, her mother's name is given incorrectly as "Eliz[abeth]."[1]

She had siblings Sarah (Colbron) Pierce and Mary (Colbron) (Barrell) Turrell all of whom migrated with their parents in 1630; settling at Boston, Massachusetts Bay. Her parents were both members of the church at Boston by August or September 1630; her father becoming first a Deacon and then a Ruling Elder of the church.

By 1646 Elizabeth had married Moses Paine[1][2]at Braintree[3] as they had a child born at Braintree on July 16, 1646. Their children were:[2]

  1. Moses, born July 16, 1646 and died February 2, 1647/8 at Braintree.
  2. Elizabeth was born August 5, 1648 at Braintree; married John Cleare.
  3. Sarah was born January 30, 1650 and died August 10, 1651 at Braintree.
  4. Moses was born June 24, 1652 and died August 10, 1657 at Braintree.
  5. Mary was born March 12, 1655 at Braintree. She married (_____) Small.
  6. William was born April 1, 1657 at Braintree. He married Sarah Sanford.
  7. John was born October 12, 1659 and died April 1, 1660 at Braintree.[4]
  8. Sarah was born May 2, 1662 at Braintree.
  9. Margaret was born December 20, 1664 at Braintree. She married Thomas Powell.
  10. Rebecca was born 4th month, 23rd day, 1667 at Braintree[5]
  11. Hannah was born April 20, 1671 at Boston.[5]
  12. Lydia was born August 23, 1674 at Boston.[5]

Her husband died at Boston on December 15, 1690. Elizabeth probably died at Boston also, however I have not yet discovered her death date.
