William was born about 1818 in Kirkley, Suffolk, England. He married Amy CAPPS in 1838.[1] At the time of the 1841 census, Amy was at home in Kirkley, Suffolk (William was away).[2] In 1851 the family lived in Kirkley.[3] Amy died in 1855[4] and was buried in Kirkley.[5]
William married Mary Ann LAWN (nee BENSTEAD) in 1857.[6][7] By 1871 they were living at 3 Colby Yard, Kirkley, and William was working as a fish merchant.[8] By 1881 they had moved to Worthing Cottage on Church Road.[9] At the time of the 1891 census, they lived at 31 Pakefield Street and William had retired.[10]
By 1901 William was living with his daughter Maria and her family on Trafalgar Street.[11]
