Biography

9 Oct 1788 born in Tunbridge, Orange County, Vermont to John Colby Jr. and Hannah Perham^[1][2]

9 Oct 1808 Mary "Polly" Colby married Benjamin Dake as his 2nd wife in Tunbridge, Orange Co., VT. despite the fact his first wife was still alive.^[1][2]

They separated after their 12th child. Benjamin moved with some of his children to Kalamazoo Co., MI.; Barry Twp., Barry Co., MI.; and later to Dayton Twp., Newaygo Co.,MI.

Polly remained in New York living with oldest son Benjamin Dake Jr. of Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., New York the rest of her life.^[3]

2 March 1864 Polly N. Dake died in Wyoming Co., New York, and is buried at Arcade Cemetery in Arcade, New York. Tombstone Inscription reads "Polly N. Dake, dau. of John Colby and wife of Benamin Dake d. Mar. 1, 1864, 76 years."^[4]
