Biography

Jacob COLBY was born on 13 April 1688 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Jacob owned the covenant and was baptized in the 1st Church of Amesbury, Massachusetts on 22 February 1735/1736. He was living in 1755 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He died at Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts

Parents: Thomas COLBY and Hannah ROWELL.

Spouse: Hannah HUNT. Jacob COLBY and 1. Hannah HUNT were married on 9 April 1711 in Amesbury, Essex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Children were: Zaccheus COLBY, Jacob COLBY.

Spouse: Elizabeth ELLIOT. Jacob COLBY and 2. Elizabeth ELLIOT were married on 27 November 1724 in Amesbury, Essex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Children were: Sgt. Edmund COLBY, Lieut. Valentine COLBY, Thomas Elliot COLBY.

On 1 June 1736, Daniel Lunt and Sarah, his wife, Jacob Colby and Elizabeth, his wife, Robert Carr and Hannah, His wife, and Naomie Elliot, spinster, daughters of John Elliot of Amesbury, yoeman, and John Elliot and David Elliot, Executors, petitione the General Court of Massachusetts to have the Will of their father, John Elliot, Senior, set aside because his mind had not been clear at the time of signing of the Will. (Journals of the House of Representatives, Vol. 14 (Boston, 1933), Page 14).
