Biography

Birth: James was born 25 Oct 1775. He is the son of John Cole and Elizabeth Buffam.[1] [2]

Marriage: 26 Jan 1797 James Cole married Sarah Hanson in Berwick, York County, in what was the state of Massachusetts. Both have been living in Sanford, York County, state of Massachusetts. Sarah is the daughter of Caleb Hanson.[2]

Death and Burial: James passed away 28 May 1855 in Sanford, Maine. He is buried in a small Cole Family Cemetery in Sanford that contains about 10 burials including his wife and at least one son.[1] [4]

  • Birth and Death Records are required. Profile has date of birth of 5 Mar 1775 which is different from Find A Grave date of 9 Mar 1775.
  • Need confirmation of his mother's name.
  • Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it voted to secede from Massachusetts to become a separate state.[5]
