Biography

When Dorothy Cole was born on February 3, 1701, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, her father, Ephraim, was 42, and her mother, Rebecca, was 31. She married Josiah Carver on November 20, 1718, in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died as a young mother on January 20, 1730, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, at the age of 28, and was buried there.

July 6th 1722) a daughter born April 29, 1723; decd. the same day; 3) Josiah Carver born Sept. 25,1724; 4) Dorothy Carver born May 20th 1727; decd. Jan. 2d 1730/1; 5) James Carver born May 5th 1729; decd. Jan. 15, 1730/1; 6) a child born Jan. 17th 1730/1; decd. the same day

Epitaph on Burial Hill reads; "Here lyes ye body of Mrs Dorothy Carver wife to Mr Josiah Carver decd Janry ye 20th 1730-1 , aged 28 years 11 Months 17 days, & Near her 5 of their Chiln as may be seen on ye foot ston"
