When Samuel Cole was born on July 18, 1740, in Swansea, Massachusetts, his father, Edward, was 27 and his mother, Sarah, was 26. He had two sons and one daughter with Keziah Hicks between 1763 and 1767. He died as a young father on March 13, 1768, in Warren, Rhode Island, at the age of 27, and was buried there.
