Biography

Name

John Cole

Not his baptism

John Cole baptized 26 Nov 1624 St Bartholomew the Great, London, England, was the son of James Cole and Alice.[1]

Not Son of Frances Munter

Three articles on the Ancestry of the Edwards Family.

  • John is not mentioned in the first. He was not named in the 1646 will of Juliana Munter. She would have been his biological grandmother. She mentioned his alleged half siblings, William and Abigail.[2]
  • John is not mentioned in the Banks article. He was not mentioned in Henry Munter's 1638 will who also names some of his alleged siblings[3]
  • No child John Cole is named in the third article either.[4]

Not the son of James Cole

Abigail (Cole) Sullivant inherited land from James Cole. Her husband, Daniel, inherited the property from her, and his wife 2nd wife Elizabeth (Lamberton) Sullivant, inherited the property from Daniel and then sold it to John Cole. This does not prove a relationship between James and John.

James in his 1652 will left bequests to his wife, daughter Abigail and husband Daniel Sullivant, step son William Edwards and cousin Henry Edwards. Surely had John Cole been his son, he would have been mentioned in this will.

He is not the son of James Cole either. Would you kindly disconnect him.

Were John Cole the child of Frances Munter he would most definitely have been named in his grandparent's (Henry and Juliana) wills. I am working on the James Cole Family. He needs to be disconnected from his unproven alleged mother Francis (so he will stop complicating things.)

I suspect he may not be the son of James Cole either, but needs more research.
