No birth record for William Cole has been found. During William Cole's lifetime there were several men with the same name living in Baltimore County, Maryland, so it is difficult to tell who is who.

William Cole wrote his will 18 JAN 1769 and it was probated 25 JUN 1770. His will names tracts of land he owned: Cross Park, Cole's Favor, Cole's Manor, Cole's String, Cole's Castle, Cole's Struggle and Cole's Chance. He also mentions his father, John Cole and his wife Mary, and all of his children.[2]
