Elizabeth (?Cole^{[citation needed]}) (Anderson offers no maiden name; what is source for her maiden name?) was born about 1609 (deposed in 1665 that she was about 57).

She was outspoken:^[1]

• 6 Nov 1647: sued (with husband) for defamation
• 25 Nov 1651: presented to court with wife of another man for "scandalous falling out on a Lord's Day"
• 28 Nov 1656: presented to court for "perniciously belying the wife of Jon. Clements in the matter of the birth and death of a child of hers" (because the wife had not called anyone to the birth or death of the child); she sat in the stocks for this
• 30 Nov 1654: sentenced to sit in the stocks having admitted "I did evil and sinfully in speaking slightly and scornfully of Mr. Walton... saying I could have a boy from College who would preach better ... for half the wages"
• Nov 1659: presented to court for saying that if the people followed Mr. Walton's preachings, they would all go to hell
• June 1671: presented to court with another woman for making disturbance in the meetinghouse
