BLG1886 reports that the following family "was seated at Twickenham, Middlesex, for several generations, and may be found in the church registers as early as 1584. Previous to the time of Cromwell, the Coles possessed nearly the whole place". BLG1866 also reports "One branch of the family was elevated to the rank of Baronet, 1640" which, given that the only Coles who obtained a baronetcy in 1640 were those of Brancepeth Castle, suggests that this family was connected to the Coles just above.
