Biography

Robert Spilsbe was born about 1710.

He married Sarah Whitehead [her maiden name not proven] (1719-1762) - their children were Susanna, John, Thomas, Richard, Whitehead, Elizabeth, Sarah and James Coleman.

Robert's daughter, Susanna married John Richards (1734-1785). After their marriage, her father set them up at Magrath's Ordinary, now called Newtown. The ordinary had 200 acres of land with it.[1]

Research Notes

Originally, this profile had death information claiming a death date of 10 Jan 1761 in Edgecombe Co, NC. That is a date for a will that was written by a different Robert Coleman, who died married to Susanna Trigg. It is for this reason that the death information has been deleted. We are currently looking for the true death information for Robert and Sarah.

The Robert Coleman who died 1761 Edgecombe Co, NC was married to Susanna Trigg. He left a will dated 10 Jan 1761 and proven March 1761. Most online researchers say this is Robert Rudolph Coleman but I do not know if that is true. The will also names 12 children: Aaron, Cadar, Stephen, Sarah, Robert, Josiah, Susanor, Jaconias, Grace, Sely, Hardy, and Silpha. Those children do not line up with this Robert and Sarah Coleman.
