Biography

Lucius Guy Coles was born on 20 April 1903 in Leonville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. He was the son of Edmond DeJean Coles and Ione Drusilla Holden.[1][2] He was enumerated on the 1910 and 1920 censuses, living with his parents in St. Landry Parish.[3][4]

He was said to have served in the military during The Great War,[5] but no evidence of it has yet been found.[6] His 1930 census entry states he was not a veteran.[7]

Guy married Hattie Delphimer Hoffpauir, daughter of Naamon Hoffpauir and Anna Permella Sarver, on 3 July 1924 in Crowley, Acadia Parish. Reverend J. H. Hoffpauir officiated at the wedding. Witnesses were Linus Faulk, Lawrence Hoffpauir, and J. E. Forman[?].[1][8] They had five children.[9]

Guy and Hetty were enumerated on a farm with their children on the 1930 census in St. Landry Parish. They rented their home on the Bayou Teche Road, and lived next door to Guy's parents.[7]

He died at age 31 on 23 November 1934, at his residence.[1][8] He was buried at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish.
