Biography
Ruth was born in 1906 in the Transvaal Colony.
She was 21 years old and working as a factory assistant when she married 21 year old bricklayer Cornelius Claude Roderick Nettmann in Johannesburg on 4 June 1927.[1]

It is not clear whether there was a child for it appears that the marriage failed very quickly. She sued for restitution of conjugal rights the next year.[2]
A year later the 22 year old divorcee married 29 year old Robert Hill Rowles in Johannesburg on 8 October 1928.[3]

There was a daughter born of this marriage:
- Alice Ruth Lavinia Rowles, b 3 May 1929 (Baptised 7 July 1929)[4]
This marriage did not last as Robert filed for divorce in 1937.[5]
It is not clear what became of her.[6]
