Nick Colionne was a jazz guitarist. According to a press release in 2019, Nick was the only artist in the history of the format to score five consecutive number one singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz National Airplay and Smooth Jazz Songs charts from a single album. [1]
Nick Colionne began playing guitar at the age of 8, and was taught by his stepfather.[2]
Nick attended Malcolm X College. [3]
He and his band, Rare Form, played for many years in the Chicago area and he released a few cds independently. He signed with a major label, Narada Records, in 2006.
According to a press release for an appearance in Racine, Wisconsin in 2019, Nick was the "only artist in the history of the format to score five consecutive number one singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz National Airplay and Smooth Jazz Songs charts from a single album." [4]
He died on January 1, 2022 in Elgin, Illinois. [5] [6]
