Biography

The son of William Coller and Lena (Witherell) Rockwell, Max Coller was born in Tecumseh Township, Michigan in 1910.[citation needed] He lived there with his family.[1] His parents divorced in 1922 and Max and his siblings lived with their mother in Jackson, Michigan.[2]

Max Coller married Ruth Elsa Groth (1912-1986), the daughter of Robert August Groth and Emma A. Kiesel, marrying in Saginaw, Michigan on September 3, 1933.[citation needed] They made their home in Jackson, Michigan, where Max worked as a clerk at a retail grocery store.[3] Their household in 1940 included Max's aunt and uncle, Bertha and Clarence Witherell, and Max's brother, William Coller, who also worked at the grocery store. Max Coller died at the age of 38, after his automobile struck a tree in Jackson,[4] and he is buried at Roseland Memorial Gardens there.[5]
