Wiley Sylvanus Collett was born about 8 May 1888 in Vernal, Uintah, Utah, United States. His parents were Sylvanus Collett (1866 - 1932) and Sarah Elizabeth (Simpkins) Collett (1865 - 1902).

Wiley married Erma America Billings (1890 - 1979). Their children were:

1. Vene Billings Collett (1915 - 1995)
2. Alice (Collett) Slaugh (1926 - 2004).

In 1920, Wiley was living in Vernal.

In 1930, Wiley was living in Manila, Daggett, Utah.

Wiley died on 7 May 1962 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah aged 73. He is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Vernal.
