When Roy Lee Collett was born on November 12, 1906, in Atoka, Oklahoma,[1] his father, John, was 26 and his mother, Rosa, was 19. He married Minnie Ethel Gill on September 8, 1928, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.[2] They had at least four children:

Joyce Lawana Collett (1948–)
He died on July 13, 1955, in his hometown at the age of 48, and was buried in Norman, Oklahoma.[3]
