Biography

John was born 4 Jul 1782, to Grizelda Taylor and John Collier. He married Susannah Graves around 1803; they had 9 children.

"In March of 1806, [possibly while working on an assignment, he] "had an affair [in Harlan County with Mary Back]. He was a stranger to the area, and so she did not know that he was already married.

'He soon disappeared, leaving her pregnant. She had a son named Alfred (born Dec. 27, 1806, FAG #13025948), and then she died, a week or so later." FG

John died in 1833 in Rockcastle, Kentucky.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

this page lists him as marrying Susanna Graves (well, it says she married a John Collier, Jr. b 1782 in Culpeper/died KY, so that matches the info in this profile).

Collier-1751 and Collier-1668 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse and birth year.
