The 1900 census has William and Mary on their own, in Des Moines, Boone, Iowa. They have been married 45 years. William emigrated in 1846, and was naturalized. His occupation is capitalist.[5]
William wrote his will on 16 February 1911. [6]
In it he leaves bequests to:
my son William Collins
my son Patrick Collin
my daughter-in-law Mary Collins, the widow of my deceased son John Collins, and her children
the remainder of the estat to my two daughters: Mary J. Kennedy and Margaret Healy. Margaret and her husband Dennis Healy are appointed executors.
William died at the age of 86 in 1912. He was a retired farmer and was a widower.[7]
