According to a local history, the father of Andrew Collins was Ebenezer Collins, the son of a Presbyterian minister born in Morris County. Ebenezer married two sisters, Sarah and Abigail Teed, and Andrew was the son of the first wife, Sarah. Their son Andrew went west to Ohio in 1815 and married a widow, a Mrs. Green.[1]
Andrew Collins and Polly Green are named as the parents of Ebenezer Collins in Ebenezer's Ohio death record. [2]. Similarly for Belinda (Collins) Poet [3] and for Lovinia (Collins) Fink [4] Belinda's mother is listed as M. Collins and Lovinia's is Mary Green. The composite mother is thus Mary "Polly" (Green) Collins.
In 1850 Andrew Collins, age 66, born in New Jersey, lived in Plain, Franklin, Ohio with Mary Collins, 64, New York; Andrew Collins, 22, New Jersey; Gilbert Collins, 20, New Jersey; Belinda Collins, 18, New Jersey; and Louvina Collins, 16, New Jersey. [5]
Andrew T Collins died on 7 October 1851 and is buried in Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. [6]
