Biography

George was born on November 24, 1842 in Kentucky to Robert Collins and Anny Banks. His siblings were Thomas W Collins, Margaret Collins, Larkin Collins, Henry J Collins, Robert Lincoln Collins, and Carter Collins.

In 1865, George married Lucinda Bowen Tyree, former wife of Brittain Tyree. Together, Lucinda and George Washington Collins had the following children: Margaret Collins, Mary Ann Collins, William Thomas Collins, Joseph P Collins, Robert H Collins, Nancy Ellen Collins, and Susan Frances Collins.

In 1889, George married Luella Thomas. Luella continued to raise George and Lucinda's children, and she also had more children with George: Wilson Edward Collins, Sarah Helen Collins, James Matthew Collins, Matilda Belle Collins, and Harriet Elizabeth Collins.

George died in 1905 and is buried in Smoot Creek Cemetery, Van, Letcher County, Kentucky.

Not sure if Anna Banks is George’s mother or if she had George out of wedlock. George was born about 1842, but Robert and Anna were married in 1846.
