someone named Thomas (farmer, renting farm), b 1841, age 58 (md 33 yrs, as is wife), is living w wife Mary, age 51 (10 kids, 6 living), and kids Charlie (age 20, farm laborer, in school 2.5 mon. of yr) and Emma (age 16)(and grandson Walter Jones, age 2--whose kid is he?) in the same area as the other Collins brothers (Benjamin, single, age 50 (farmer, unemployed 6 mon. of the last yr), living alone, is next door; . . . and William (farmer, owns farm)[? - writing obscured](age 62) md to Mabell (34 yrs - she gave birth 3 times, 1 living) is next door to Benjamin ) - so who died? (Thomas Collins was one of the two youngest of Eaton's sons, older than only Benjamin)(and my father, HW Collins, made it quite clear that Thomas died in Civil War [also see the memorial inscription, as noted above ][i don't know how many Thomas Collinses were Wake County residents around the time of the Civil War, of course] - but he thought the two youngest were John and Benjamin, not Thomas and Benjamin - bcs - 5/3/11)(he said two were too young to go to Civil War . . . the two youngest were Thomas and Benjamin . . . but he said John was too young [John was the oldest - see censuses . . . . ] - so maybe Thomas survived and married . . . ) (all b NC, all parents b. NC but fath of Wm, b VA)
