COLLINS, Nancy Louise Of Nantucket and Boston, died peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2014 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Wylie L. Collins and Louise Coffin Collins of Nantucket. Nancy grew up on Nantucket Island, and was a descendant of Jared Coffin, one of the early settlers of the Island. Nancy graduated from Cushing Academy in 1952 and received a BA in English from Wellesley College in 1956. She married Allen V. Collins, whom she met on Nantucket, on June 16, 1956. Nancy and Allen co-founded Allen Collins, Inc, a clothing store in West Hartford, CT. They operated the business together for 43 years before their retirement and subsequent move to Boston. Nancy was respected well in the clothing industry for her creative design and known for her commitment to her customers. A dedicated entrepreneur, Nancy always valued the many friends she made while operating the business. Nancy was also well known by the Dartmouth College community. She actively supported Allen, Dartmouth Class of 1953, in his various alumni and class leadership roles over the years. Nancy's primary joy and focus throughout her life was her family. She had unconditional love for her children and grandchildren and dedicated herself to supporting their interests. Nancy was happiest when surrounded by family. She loved summer on Nantucket, winter skiing adventures, worldwide travel and cheering at her grandchildren's school events. Nothing made her happier than to surround herself with family, whether that be on a pristine Nantucket beach at sunset or over the well-worn dinner table at home. Her children, their spouses and her grandchildren were the light of her life. All will miss her wisdom, intellect, loyalty, compassion and beautiful smile. In addition to her beloved husband of 58 years, Nancy will be dearly missed by her four children and twelve grandchildren: Kimberly Collins Parizeau of Wellesley, MA, and her husband Ernie and their four children Katelyn, Douglas, Molly and Sam; Wylie Collins of Greenwich, CT and his wife Jenny and their three children Kelsey, Ross and Megan; Tristram Collins of Brick, NJ and his wife Jennifer and their two sons Crosby and Kieran; and Jared Collins of Dover, MA and his wife Laura and their three boys Christopher, Brendan and Ryan. She also leaves a younger brother, Dexter S. Collins of Nantucket and a sister-in-law, Jane E. Collins of St. Augustine, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Nantucket Island on Saturday, March 1st at 1 PM at the First Congregational Church in the Old North Vestry, 62 Center Street, followed by an internment at the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.eatonfuneralhomes.com In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, 57 Prospect Street, Nantucket, MA 02554 Eaton Funeral Home 781-444-0201.
