William Collins was the father of Thomas Collins, the 8th President of Delaware.
William was probably born around 1700. He passed away about 1758.
He purchased land in Delaware around 1735, which is also about the time of Thomas's birth. In the Orphans Court record at the time of his death, Thomas Collins is referred to as the "eldest son" of William Collins and Mary Collins is referred to as his "only surviving daughter." The Orphan's Court record did not mention a widow at the time of his death, so at this time, I don't know who he married or when.
There are several Collins who received large land grants in Maryland in the 1600s, including 2 who were named Thomas, but I have not been able to find a connection to the Delaware Collins.
