Mrs. Smith Dead

Mrs. John V. Smith, who has been sick for some time, died Friday, May 22, 1908.

Funeral services were held at the residence, corner Frank and 6th Streets, conducted by Rev. I. Konkle, of the First Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Sigmon of the First Baptist Church.

Burial took place in Mitchell (City) Cemetery.

Grandma Smith was a fine old lady and will be missed by her neighbors. Her husband, John V. Smith, who has been dead for some time, was at one time editor of the Commercial (newspaper).

He is one of a family of three sons and six daughters of Peter and Margaret(Ford) SMITH. John attended the district schools about three months during the year, and remained at home with his parents as long as he remained single. July 24, 1851, he wedded Susan A. Collins, daughter of Samuel Collins. Mrs. SMITH was born in Monroe County, Ind., about 1831. To their union nine children were born, all of whom are deceased.
