DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:
I am working on this same family member of mine in Ancestry.com and there is a source there called Family book of remembrance and genealogy, with allied lines.
It says that Robert Collins, who married Hester or Ester Fowler, is Benjamin Collins' is his father (does not say whether she is the mother (probably not likely since they did not get married until 1658). It also asserts that Benjamin was born in Ipswich, Mass, but has no date. Is this a reliable source?
The source that lists John, above, is a GEDCOM import with no citations. Just wondering if we have something to go on that might give us a good lead as to who Benjamin's father is and where he was really born??
