Biography

Sallie Eloise Collins and Cleetos Clennon (“C. C.”) Blackman.

Ironically, Grace was unable to find very much about her own Collins line. She knew from her mother that her grandparents were John Henry Collins and Annie Riggs, but she never located their marriage record. Her records say John Henry went by the nickname “Pat”. Grace was close to her parents. Sallie and C. C. raised their family in Jacksonville, Florida. Grace married Ernest Walton Green and they eventually settled in Valdosta, Georgia. So they were able to visit the Blackman’s regularly. Sallie and C. C. eventually moved to Valdosta where Grace and Ernest cared for them for the remainder of their lives. They are both buried in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta.[1]
