Biography

Mortimer Luther Colton was born 15 August 1880 [1] in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, [2] the son of Luther (Lou) Colton and Agnes Masters.[3] He married (1) Maude Elizabeth Pritchett and (2) Mabel Peabody (nee Will) on 30 January 1937 at Ames, Story County, Iowa.

M.L. Colton, Napier, Dies. M.L. Colton of the Napier community died here Wednesday night at Mary Greeley hospital. He had been take to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a heart ailment. He had been ill a year and a half. Mr. Colton was 73, born Aug. 15, 1880 in Des Moines. He had been a farmer in the Napier community since 1919. He was a member of the Napier Methodist church. He was married to Maude Pritchett Nov. 28, 1900. She died in 1935. He was then married to Mabel Peabody Jan. 30, 1937, here. Mrs. Mabel Colton survives. Other survivors are daughter, Mrs. Stephen Brooks of Napier, sister, Mrs. H.M. Houghhan of Des Moines, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Napier Methodist church with the Rev. Burton C. Collier officiating. Burial will be in Ames municipal cemetery. the body will lie in state at the Adams Chapel until the time of the funeral.
