Research Progress

1820 United States Federal Census Record of Floyd County, Kentucky, Household of John COLVIN [indexed CALOIA][2]

Researcher's Notes:
The Free White Male Aged over 45 Years is obviously John COLVIN as he is the only adult male in the household.
The Free White Female aged 26 to 45 years is obviously his wife, Sarah FAIRCHILD.
The Free White Female Aged 16 to 26 is thought to be Elizabeth CURTIS who was born about October 1803 and did not marry until 20 February 1823.
The Free White Male Aged 10 to 16 Years is thought to have been James CURTIS, the stepson of John COLVIN and son of Sarah FAIRCHILD with James CURTIS. It is unknown when he married, but it is thought he fathered a child named Hiram around 1825.
The Free White Female Aged 10 to 16 Years is thought to be Anna CURTIS who was born about 1806 and did not marry until 29 November 1821.
The three Free White Males Aged under 10 years are thought to be Allen Riley COLVIN (born About 1811), Abiud F. COLVIN (born about 1812), and John COLVIN, Jr. (born about 1814). There is another male, Jackson COLVIN (born about 1819) who does not seem to be listed in this household, but my birth estimate may have been off.
The free white female aged under 10 years was probably Mary "Polly" COLVIN who was a proven child of John COLVIN through his consent for her to marry on 26 December 1833.
