On the 3rd November 1857, he married Mary Elizabeth Graham, daughter of Major-General Joseph Graham, at Naini Tal in Bengal.[2][3]
Bazett Wetenhall Colvin died at his residence, Lexden Manor, in Colchester, Essex, on the 6th July 1909, aged seventy-eight years.[4][5]

Mr Colvin was educated at Haileybury[6] and Eton.[7]
He was employed in the Bengal Civil Service, and served as: Assistant Magistrate and Collector; on the Board of Revenue, North-West Province; and as Officiating Secretary in the North-West Province. He was appointed an additional member of the Governor-General's Council, 1877–81, and retired in 1885.[7]

DEATH of MR. B. W. COLVIN.
The death occurred suddenly at his residence, Lexden Manor, Colchester, of Mr. Bazett Wetenhall Colvin, I.C.S. retired), at the age of 79.
Mr. Colvin was educated at Eton, and was appointed to the Bengal Civil Service in 1850. He served in Bengal as assistant magistrate and collector until 1854, and afterwards in the North-West Province. He became a member of the board of revenue in the North-West Province in 1862. He was on special duty at Agra during the visit of the King, then Prince of Wales, in February, 1876, and in the same year he became officiating secretary to the Government in the North-West Province, He was an additional member of the Governor-General's Council from 1877 to 1881, and in 1885 he retired. His son. Mr. E. G. Colvin, C.S.I.,. is agent to the Governor-General, Rajputana, and Chief Commissioner at Ajmer-Merwera.
The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon at Lexden Church, the officiating clergy being the Right Rev. Bishop Harrison, the Rev. J. Mellor Evans, rector of Lexden, and the Rev. H. F. V. Carter, rector of St. Leonard's Hythe.

Wreaths and other floral offerings were sent by General Sir Bindon Blood, Major-Gen. Sir T. Graham and Lady Graham, Lady Montague, Lady Grant Duff and Miss Grant Duff, Miss Hochepied Larpent, and many others, including the servants at Lexden Manor.[7]
