Patience Colvin was born on 6 Jun 1815 ^[1] in Chester, South Carolina, United States daughter of Nicholas Colvin (~1775 - 1839) and Susannah Dyer (Elam) Colvin (1769 - 1842).

Patience married William Francis Nelson (1820 - ) Their children were:

• John N Nelson (1844 - 1914)
• Margaret Isabel (Nelson) Polk (1848 - 1886)
• William Andrew Nelson (1850 - 1908).

Patience married Francis W Coleman ( - 1841) Their children were:

• Robert William Coleman (1836 - 1915)
• Elizabeth Drucilla (Coleman) Hinson (1837 - 1924).
