Ann Comb was born September 1, 1862 in the southeastern coastal city of Dunbar, Haddingtonshire, Scotland and was the daughter of John Comb who was a fisherman and his wife Esther Thompson.[1] Ann, or Annie as she is sometimes called, worked as a domestic servant in 1881. [2] In 1891 Ann was unmarried and living with her son Thomas Comb[3] and at the time was an unemployed kipperer. [4] The identity of Thomas's father is unknown at this time. Ann was married in 1894 to Robert Oveston[5] in Dunbar, Haddingtonshire, Scotland and they had a daughter named Catherine Oveston[6] who was born in 1895. Sadly, Ann passed away in 1917 in Athelstaneford, Haddingtonshire, Scotland.[7]
