Biography

Last Monday, while seated in front of the COMBS house, M. L. COMBS was stricken with paralysis. A doctor was promptly summoned and he was carried to his bedroom and everything possible was done to relieve him, but he grew steadily weaker until 12:45 Tuesday noon, when he died. He has always lived here and everybody knew him well. He was a genial man, well meaning and with an intent to be thoroughly honest and straightforward, although he met with financial reverses a few years ago and had not been able to regain a foot hold.

He was a member of the M. E. church and was a member of Bloomfield Lodge No 84 F. & A. M. The funeral services were conducted at the above named church at 10:30 o’clock this forenoon, the funeral being preached by Rev. RAAF, the pastor. The services at the grave were conducted by the Masons, who also escorted the remains to the cemetery.

The deceased leaves a devoted wife and one daughter, Mrs. Frank RAMSEY, and several grandchildren, besides his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah E. COMBS, and one sister, Mrs. J. E. WARREN, of Petoskey, Michigan.

The deceased was aged about fifty-four years. He was engaged in business here at different periods and served for a time as a member of the Bloomfield school board. He had also been a traveling salesman and was successful in making real estate deals.

His only son, Edgar COMBS, died in Chicago several months ago and was brought here for interment.
