Lieutenant Benjamin Combs served with Frederick County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Benjamin Combs is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A025595.

Captain Benjamin Coombs was born in 1749, in Stafford county, Virginia. During the American Revolutionary War, Benjamin was a member of the Frederick county, Virginia Militia. [1] Benjamin is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as Ancestor #A025595. DAR records indicate that he died December 10, 1838, in Winchester, Clark county, Kentucky, and that his wife was Sarah Richardson. Application for membership in the Society have been made by the descendants of his sons, William Richardson Coombs, who married Elizabeth Blanton; John Harrison Coombs, who married Sophia Bullock; Samuel Richardson Coombs, who married Theodosia Holder; and Leslie Coombs, who married Margaret Trotter. [2]

Captain Coombs is buried in the Old Coombs Farm cemetery, in Winchester, Clark county, Kentucky. There is more biographical information on his Find A Grave memorial. [3]

Capt. Benjamin Combs, one of the founders of Winchester [Clark Co], Kentucky, was John's most celebrated son.
