Wheeler age 30 b NC; Lydia Wheeler age 30 b IN; Luisa Wheeler age 5 b IN; Mariah Wheeler age 3 b IN; Mary Wheeler age 2 b IN; Joseph Carmical age 19 b OH; William Carpenter age 21 b NC. ^[4] The two daughters under age 5 are children of Robert and Lydia. Only Luisa Wheeler, age 5, is old enough to be the daughter of Robert Wheeler and Jane Bennett.

In 1880 Lydia Hulit is widowed and living with her aged mother Sarah Commons. Lydia is aged 59, b. IN; daughter Lillie Hulit is aged 22 b IN; mother Sarah Commons aged 86, b North Carolina.^[8]

Lydia is known to be the mother of Maria Jane Wheeler Morris, Mary L. Wheeler Morris Stiles and Lillie E. Hulit. She may have been the mother of Luisa Wheeler b ca 1845 but Luisa may have been the child of Robert A. Wheeler's first wife, Jane Bennett.
