Obituary

"Mr. Lewis Compton Dead - He Was a Gallant Soldier of the Third Regiment - Mr. lewis D. Compton died at this home a few miles northeast of this city last Wednesday, aged about 65. Mr. Compton was a good and faithful soldier in Company E. (State Guards) of the Third Regiment in the war between the states. He leaves a widow who is a daughter of the late Mr. Robert Franks, and several children. Mr. Compton was a good citizen and his death will be greatly mourned by his old comrades and a number of friends and relatives."[4]
