SALEM- Marjorie Edith JONES, 83, of Salem died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem. She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Alma, daughter of George William and Grace (BASSETT) CONANT. She married Floyd JONES in 1948, and he preceded her in death in September 1993. Mrs. JONES is survived by two sons, Stan JONES and wife Linda (MITCHELL) and Roger JONES and wife Cathy (DeVORE), all of Alma; a daughter, Connie BRUBAKER and husband Jim of Taylorville; two sisters, Monna FRAKES and Betty SEE, both of Salem; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (BRUBAKER) LAWSON and husband Matt of Suwanee, Ga., Ben BRUBKER and wife Jennifer of Edwardsville, Ryan JONES and friend Amanda REGISTER of Salem, Denise JONES and friend Dennis BEASLEY of Staunton, Jennifer (JONES) LIGGETT and husband Shane of Edgewood, Joseph JONES and wife Candice of Alma, and Elly (JONES) OWENS and husband Troy of Kinmundy; 12 great-grandchildren, Hannah LAWSON, Emma and Gracie BRUBAKER, Michael and Lindsay PETERS, Wyatt, Emma and Alyssa JONES, Jayda and Olivia OWENS, and Jayden and Macee GRZEGOREK. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lyle CONANT and Dale CONANT; a sister, Donna CONANT; and a grandson, Dustin JONES. Mrs. JONES was a homemaker. She graduated from Kinmundy High School in 1947 and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She was a former member of the Homemaker's Extension, a 4-H leader, and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kinmundy. She loved spending time with family and friends and often opened her home for get-togethers. Mrs. JONES was very generous and frequently took food to those who were ill. She worked very hard in her garden, growing flowers and vegetables. Her family will remember heir as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be missed. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy with Duane Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at Sandy Branch Cemetery in rural Kinmundy. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or Kinmundy Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
