Agnes Conard was born into a Quaker family. Agnes married John Wolfcale on Oct. 10, 1771, at the Gwynedd Monthly Meeting, They were supposed to have lived in Loudoun Co. until 1804, at which time the Wolfcales (John and Agnes) and the Nicholas Osbornes (husband of Agnes' sister Margaret) migrated to Ohio and settled in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties, Agnes' sister Margaret was married to an Osborne.[1]
Agnes is said to have been disowned for marring our of her family's religion:
Of his orphan children it is interesting to speculate on that one "yet unborn." It wa3 undoubtedly Agnes, v;ho later married John Wolfcale: as I have letters from a descendant of this Agnes saying that Agnes was born in 1747, and that she was married in 1773. Records of Gwynedd Meeting show her marriage as dated Oct. 1772, She was disowned in November for "marrying out of unity."[1]
Agnes (as the unborn child) is named in her father's will as one of seven children of Anthony Conard and his wife Sarah Hatfield. The will gives birthdates only for Sarah and her brother John.[1]
