Biography

Bessie Condit was born in 1884 in Iowa to William Davidson Condit and Rhoda Glasgow.^[1][2][3] From 1903-1904, she studied music at Wellesley College under Grinnell, graduating in 1907.^[4] She went on to give concerts in various places. There is a record for a program she put on with E. Roscoe Shrader who, it seems, was a cellist as well as an illustrator and painter.^[5][6] As his career drew him to California, she came too. They had three children and lived in a beautiful home in La Canada-Flintridge. He had an art studio in the backyard and she taught the piano.^[7][8][9] She died in 1973.^[10][11]
