DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Ruth or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ruth:

Hi Debra, It looks like we are related through the Lykins. If you build your grandparents onto your WikiTree, we might be able to find the connection!

Hi Ruth,

Your 5th great-grandfather Benjamin Caudill Sr. is my 7th great-grandfather so that would make us 6th cousins, twice removed.

I sent in a DNA test to confirm my genealogy, so we'll see when I get my results back.

But It's nice to meet you, have a great weekend!

Hi Mikayla,

That's pretty cool, although distant cousins don't always share DNA, I hope I see you on GED Match. Happy St. Pats! Ruth

Hi Ruth,

Your 7th GGF I, Ebenezer Couch Sr. is my 5th GGF which makes us 6th Cousins twice removed.

Thanks so much for your additions to the Peter Dial Lykins profile. I’d be happy to add you to the trusted list and even make you the admin if you’d request it.

Hi Ruth,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I am checking in to see how it is going. The New Member How-Tos are for you to work at your own pace. If you had time to look, were they helpful?

I'm here to help with questions about how WikiTree works. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi Ruth,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!

Click here to start with our New Member How-To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
