John was born in 1764. [1] He was son of John Conn, a gunner in the Royal Navy and his wife, Anne Frances, and was baptised at Stoke Damerel in Devon on the 5th of August. [2]
On the 19th of January 1792 at Stoke Damerel, he married Margaret Nelson, [3] daughter of the Reverend Isaac Nelson of Stoke Damerel.
He was Captain of Dreadnought at the Battle of Trafalgar, having transferred from Royal Sovereign on the 11th of October 1805. [4]
He passed away in 1810. [1]
